The aroma immediately delivers a blast of charred oak, earthy rye, smoke, and a touch of dried flowers. Smooth notes of vanilla and brown sugar are present, with some molasses adding depth. It's unmistakably rye, yet smooth. The palate is somewhat dry, coating the mouth with robust, pleasant, and not overpowering rye spice, alongside warm dried oak and a distinct earthiness. There's a subtle sweetness underneath, but this is predominantly rye. It's surprisingly straightforward yet potent, drinking easily despite its high proof. Truly excellent for a full-bodied rye. The finish is medium in length, with a persistent spiciness throughout the mouth as the dry oak gradually fades.
