Nose: Sassafras all day. Medicinal with hints of old-fashioned soda pop and single malt. Palate: Delivers completely on the nose. Also, hints of anise, smoke, and rye, in that order. Finish: Long and smooth. Black licorice, smoke, and licorice. Leaves you curious and wanting another sip. Medicinal, but with overtones of scotch, cola, and smoke.

About this bottle
Copper Fox Sassy Single Malt Rye is crafted from 100% rye grown in Virginia, which undergoes floor malting and is smoked with sassafras wood native to the state. Following distillation, it is aged with new and used applewood and oak chips contained within used bourbon barrels. The final product is bottled at 90 proof.

This is truly awful. I sample different bourbons nightly; some are mediocre and suitable for mixing. This, however, went straight into the toilet. It had the aroma and taste of spoiled peanut butter with a metallic finish. My apologies if this is your preference, but it's not for me.
The aroma is earthy, reminiscent of green beans or grass. The taste was like a pile of hay.
You detect the Rye on the nose but not on the palate.
Rye is present on the nose, but not on the palate.
A delicious rye with still some warming notes
