Contratto Aperitif follows a recipe established in 1935, utilizing 28 different herbs, spices, roots, and seeds infused into Italian grappa. Notable ingredients include aloe, angelica, wormwood, safflower, cinchona, bitter orange, sweet orange, lemon, mandarin, hawthorn, cloves, cardamom, licorice, juniper, mint, rhubarb, sage, nettle, and ginger. Carrot and beetroot extract provide natural coloring, and the aperitif is bottled at 13.5% ABV.

The aroma has notes of orange peel, candied orange, a hint of herbs, and possibly rhubarb. The palate is sweet but not overly so, with herbal, wine-like, and earthy qualities, similar to a sweet vermouth.
A pleasant herbal cola and orange flavor. Works well mixed 50/50 with tonic or prosecco over ice, served with an orange slice.
Sweet, bitter orange aperitif, similar to Aperol but less sweet and with a neon color. Excellent for cocktails.
