About this bottle

This limited release bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery pays tribute to Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr., an early distiller who employed a sour mash technique in the 1800s. This modern interpretation follows a similar method. It was produced under Bottled-in-Bond regulations in 2002 and made available in limited quantities in 2012, bottled at 100 proof.

The aroma is like churning butter over cinnamon sticks infused with maple syrup, then served on thick pancakes with a cherry on top. The taste isn't as impressive as the aroma, but there's still some cherry-infused butter. Perhaps a bit of leather. Even though it's only 100 proof, I've had 90 proof spirits that felt much stronger. The finish is incredible. Wonderfully smooth, with no burn, just the sweet notes from the aroma complemented by a touch of caramel oakiness.
