E.H. Taylor, Jr. Four Grain Bourbon (Second Release)

I was at a drinking establishment and saw this was available by the glass. To my amazement, it was only $15 for a pour, so I had to try it. The aroma was incredibly sweet. It was like an explosion of fruit and vanilla. However, it was so pleasing and not overwhelming. The taste continued the vanilla, cherry, and fruit notes. The level of warmth was just right, heating your mouth. By far an amazing flavor. The finish was where it truly completed the experience for me. It was smooth with a substantial mouthfeel, but vanilla and sweetness persisted throughout. It was absolutely delightful. Since this is so difficult to locate, I doubt I will ever have it again. Absolutely worth the price.

Its most appealing aspects are at the beginning. Sweet aroma, notes of vanilla, dark fruit (like grapes, plum?), and bubblegum. The taste largely stays in the same sweet range, with a touch of cherry cola added. The finish shifts dramatically. Dry wood, spice. It's an intriguing drink. Pretty good, even though I don't prefer the final note. And I know this is the 2018 bottling, but if it resembles the 2017, I don't see how it could be whiskey of the year.

Nose: berries, more berries, and even more berries. Not as clearly defined as another popular brand, but very good. Perhaps a hint of vanilla cake is present. Palate: Wow. An intense wave of berry flavor immediately washes over. I was quite surprised. It's then overtaken by the vanilla noted on the nose. These two distinct flavors make this bourbon exceptionally unique and remarkably good. Finish: The vanilla lingers on the palate throughout the entire finish. I'm a big fan.

Two ounces served neat in a Glencairn glass at The Partisan in DC. Flavors of vanilla, spice, grains, hay, and cherries. A complex finish that lasts, with lingering spice and a touch of warmth. Exquisite. At $14 for a serving in a high-end DC venue, this was an incredible bargain. I love it. 7/3/19.

Notes of cherry, vanilla, and caramel mingle with a spicy, lingering finish. While current secondary and online prices are too high, it's a fantastic purchase at retail, explaining its high demand.

Nose exhibits strong vanilla, sweet corn, with flavors of pecans, vanilla (prominent), caramel, pepper spice, cotton candy, marshmallow, followed by a subtle herbal finish.
