Rating: 11/23 Given my positive experience with the brand's blanco, I was eager to try this. Nose: It's a bit dry and light, with a dull woody character. Noticeable oiliness with lime, a slightly savory note, and some sweetness that hints at fruit but is hard to identify. Contains organic herbal notes, but not vegetal. Overall, a rather complex and appealing aroma. Palate: Substantial wood influence. It's flat and astringent. The wood seems to clash unpleasantly with the lime's bitterness. The complexity from the nose is lost here. There's some sweetness, but very little. Mostly dry, though definitely oily. Finish: Extremely drying, with significant tannins. While the palate was acceptable, this is deteriorating. Overly tannic. - Conclusion - This unfortunately declined steadily, concluding with a truly harsh finish. Assigning a rating is difficult, but it's definitely lower than a 12, yet likely not below a 9. I'm leaning towards an 11. It could work well in a cocktail if I had to improvise.

An exquisite Agave Spirit from Master Distiller Enrique Fonseca for Tequileña Distillery (NOM 1146), aged 3 to 6 months in American white oak, bottled additive free at 40% ABV. It begins aromatically with notes of cooked agave, wood, earth, fruits, herbs & spices; a bold middle adds notes of caramel, vanilla & citrus; leading to a balanced, medium-length finish with notes of oak, black pepper & cinnamon. Served neat. It has a pale straw hue. The aroma is mild, featuring agave with subtle oak, spice, pepper, and earth. The taste is rich, with fruity agave, some muted, smoky oak, vegetal notes, and minerals, accompanied by slight spice, pepper, and vanilla. The finish is relatively short and dry, with some oak tannins. A genuine tequila with no added ingredients. Good flavor at an excellent price.

Aroma: Spice and agave Taste: gentle on the palate, agave, light caramel followed by baking spices General: Excellent Tequila for the cost. $33 for 1L and no additives. Will keep a bottle on hand for future enjoyment.

A very sweet vanilla on the nose, followed by a light oakiness that gives way to flavors of vanilla, roasted agave, and toasted almond. The finish is spicy, dry, and quite long. I absolutely adore it.

This tequila is better for sipping than Hornitos. I like the Blanco version more. It's excellent for margaritas. It offers great value for the cost. I'd pick this over most other options for mixers.
