Christmas Cake & Dark Chocolate & Medjool Dates & Cinnamon 8 Year Old

While browsing auction listings one day, I noticed a striking, unconventional label that read "Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire," with no clear distiller mentioned. Intrigued, I passed it by until I visited a remote restaurant in Speyside. There, a lively character named Craig welcomed my group. After sharing jokes and assigning everyone nicknames, he offered us a whisky called "CHRISTMAS CAKE & DARK CHOCOLATE & MEDJOOL DATES & CINNAMON." This was evidently a sherry-matured version of the other whisky I'd seen. It was excellent. On the nose, it delivered exactly as advertised: dates, cinnamon, glazed ham, marzipan, and Christmas cake. After the first taste, it transformed into chocolate cake with raisins, a muffin, and subtle hints of BBQ sauce. Delightful. On the palate, it was delicious, featuring dates, raisins, a very wine-like quality, blueberries, and red berries. It tasted of every imaginable dried fruit. The finish showcased the promised cinnamon, reminiscent of Christmas cake with wine; it was practically a loaf of bread spread with blackberry marmalade. Overall, this is an outstanding dram with a perfectly executed marketing concept: it delivers precisely what the label suggests. I remain unaware of the producer, and frankly, it doesn't matter, as this mystery enhances the entire experience. A wonderful whisky, earning a score of 92 out of 100.

The nose has notes of raisin, and the palate is biscuity, but overall it wasn't remarkable for me.
