Chivas Regal The Queen's Awards for Export Achievement 1995

In 1995, Chivas Regal was once again honored with the Queen's Awards for Export Achievement, marking their fourth time receiving this distinction. I had previously consumed, and not just sampled, two bottles of the 1990 expression, which was exceptional, and I have now managed to acquire this 1995 bottling. Bottled at 40% ABV, this was awarded to "the Chivas & Glenlivet group" and was never released to the market, as it was presented to the distillery and Chivas administrators as a token of appreciation for their accomplishment. On the nose, it presents the classic Chivas aromas, but in a remarkably elegant and refined manner. Notes of oranges, green apples, and caramel are present, along with ginger and pancake maple syrup. The palate is delicious, with a very substantial body. Flavors of caramel and dark chocolate, oranges, salt, and butterscotch are evident. The aftertaste follows suit, maintaining an elegant profile with notes of ginger, oranges, and caramel, finishing herbal and velvety. Overall, this is like a Chivas 12yo amplified. It possesses all the traditional flavors of a standard blend but delivered in a much more sophisticated and substantial way. It is absolutely enjoyable, and it's always a pleasure to drink a whisky that might disappear due to its rarity. My rating for it is 88 out of 100.
