While I'm unsure if the "Queen's Award for Export Achievement" is still awarded, Chivas Regal received this honor multiple times historically. Records show Chivas won it at least four times, specifically in 1973, 1976, 1990, and 1995; I know this because I possess the commemorative bottles from 1990 and 1995. This review focuses on "Chivas Regal Jubilee Reserve," a special 1990s bottling commemorating the aforementioned award. Unconventionally for Chivas Regal, the decanter and label deviate from the traditional style; let's discover if the contents are equally impressive. Presented at 40% alcohol by volume. The aroma is excellent, featuring notes of caramelized oranges, marmalades, and a subtle sweetness. It also offers hints of tart fruits, mocha blended with orange zest, and freshly baked brownies. After a few sips, notes of lemon meringue and a delightful crème brûlée emerge. The palate mirrors the nose with its smooth delivery of vanilla, lemon meringue, and a distinct nuttiness. The finish is also pleasing, with hints of lemon zest, salt, and ginger, alongside tart fruit notes. Overall, the nose, palate, and rewarding finish presented an elegant experience. This is distinctly a more upscale Chivas Regal, designed as a celebratory dram and a truly limited release of only 2000 bottles. I find it exceptionally well-made, earning a solid score of 91 out of 100.
