About this bottle

Released in April 2024, Chicken Cock Small Batch Bourbon is intentionally produced in quantities of no more than 15 barrels per batch. Master Distiller Gregg Snyder selects the barrels for each batch, and the specific batch number and barrel count are noted on the label. Batch 1 consists of six barrels, each aged 5 years, chosen from the 2nd and 5th floors of a rickhouse in Bardstown. This bourbon is bottled-in-bond.

Wow, this is incredible! The aroma seemed a bit light, only giving hints of caramel and raisin. However, the palate is unmistakably full, buttery, and opulent. I could really see this complementing a prime steak, crab legs, or shrimp. The buttery character is prominent, highlighted by notes of dried fruit and leather, all leading to an extended finish. A truly delightful pour I will revisit repeatedly. It's definitely worth the $65 price tag. This is a stellar selection to keep handy.

From Batch 16, this Kentucky Straight Bourbon was made with Bardstown Bourbon Company and aged 5 years in American white oak, bottled at 50% ABV. It starts with aromas of grain, wood, fruits, herbs, and spices. Its middle has grainy and woody characteristics with butterscotch, candied ginger, orange peel, and apricot. It finishes long and spicy with oak, white pepper, cinnamon, and leather.

The aroma is sweet, with citrus, orange, a bit of lemon, very soft with a slight hint of ginger, minimal spice, very low/no proof, and a leathery dryness.

Shantel Longo 3.8

Smooth caramel oak, a nice drink.
