Chicken Cock Island Rooster Rum Barrel Rye

The aroma is that of a straightforward bourbon, with notes of creamed corn and a touch of vanilla. The rye character emerges subtly after some time in the glass, remaining subdued. It presents as a gentle rye. The initial taste on the palate is remarkably soft, gliding across the tongue almost like freshly baked rye bread. The flavor gradually unfolds with a spark of spice, followed by a slight rum influence near the finish. There's no harshness in the aftertaste. It's a very agreeable rye that doesn't overtly showcase the rum finish but doesn't need to. The mild rye notes are consistent from aroma to taste to finish without being overwhelming. It's an excellent introduction to rye for the cost, with elements that even a connoisseur can appreciate.

Its excessive price lowers the rating. While the standard bourbon is simply uninteresting, this is disagreeable. Almost no aroma, some harshness, mild black pepper, and an artificial-tasting sweetness. Lacks rye spice somehow. A brief, weak, forgettable finish.

Even drier than their ethos, which makes sense. The rye flavor and spice are amplified, and I enjoy it more than most ryes. Quite nice.
