A peculiar, sugary, and subtle bourbon introduction gave way to a gentle hop finish. It was enjoyable to sample, but I wouldn't purchase it.

About this bottle
This whiskey from Charbay, the third release in their 1999 series, is distilled from Pilsner beer. It consists of 10 barrels of whiskey that were distilled 15 years ago. The whiskey then aged for six years in new American oak barrels with a #3 "gator skin" char, followed by an additional 8 years in neutral vessels before bottling.

Remarkable. The chocolate notes derived from the barrel char are outstanding. It's also exceptionally smooth considering the 66% abv. My thanks go to Justin.
