Gordon's Private Barrel 13 years old 50% John Dore 1 & 50% Vendome Ex-Bourbon 56.3% ABV Appears a ruddy copper. The aroma is reminiscent of aged bourbon with abundant vanilla, creamy caramel confections, spiced gingerbread, cinnamon raisin oats, and a cedar chest filled with naphthalene. Texture is heavy and viscous. The initial taste presents more vanilla bean and caramel candy, leading to a vegetal note, and concluding with subtle hints of medicinal honey, mothballs, and petroleum. The conclusion is medium-long and dry, featuring ample oak and traces of vanilla essence, allspice, medicinal honey, and gasoline. Adding an ice cube enhances it, mellowing some of the sharper elements, making it quite enjoyable.
