About this bottle

The Castarède family, now in their sixth generation of producers in Bas-Armagnac since 1832, offers Réserve de la Famille. This armagnac is distilled from ugni blanc, colombard, and folle blanche grapes. It then rests for a minimum of 20 years in Monlezun oak barrels stored within the family's century-old cellars.

Marisa Newsom 4.3

The aroma includes plum, vanilla, buttered toast, and nougat. On the palate, there's leather, mid-range caramels, nutmeg, oak, and mandarins. The finish is where it becomes quite intriguing. Rancio emerges gently, with a faint musty and cooked fruit note. There are overcooked biscuits, shoe polish, and a slight creamy note similar to whey. It's exceptionally smooth with a medium finish and a lingering hint of jam on the roof of the mouth.
