My highest-rated whisky remains Diageo's 2014 Caol Ila 30 release, so I was eager to try its successor. The aroma reminds me of the salt cellar, with flavors unfolding like a Matryoshka doll. Guava, herbal teas, and bonfire ash combine with aniseed, old cigars, and sour cream. The palate has superb balance, with fruity, dry, and spicy notes intertwined with mineral peat smoke, peppermint, and plums. Waves of brine, tobacco, and espresso sparkle in the lingering finish. 35 years in the casks made for a blissful moment! RATING: 4.9/5.0 stars ≙ 94 pts → PERFECT [-]

The right amount of peat, with lots of character and complexity on the palate. It might be one of my favorite Scotch selections recently.
Amazing. The best I've ever had.
