About this bottle
Distilled at Caol Ila in 1968, this single malt spent 50 years aging in a refill sherry hogshead. Bottled in 2018 by independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail as part of their Private Collection, it was presented at cask strength of 52.5% ABV. With only 199 bottles produced, it marked the oldest Caol Ila bottling available as of December 2018. The Private Collection series showcases greatly aged single malts from notable, lesser-known, or closed distilleries, selected by members of the Urquhart family.
