Camikara 12 Year Rum

Light baking spices with none of the anticipated fresh cane funk, this firmly belongs in the dark rum category. Initially, on the palate, the extended aging in oak has softened and mellowed the spirit, providing a smooth and moderately sweet entry. As the flavor develops, woodier notes emerge towards the back of the palate, accompanied by sharp, prickly pepper characteristics. Overall, this is a robust aged rum that serves as an excellent base for high-end cocktails, or enjoyed neat over a single ice cube for sublime sipping.

This rum might be too "complex" for my fading senses, as I cannot detect a distinct aroma or flavor. Damn! Hmm... I believe I detect a vanilla/honey-like scent. Taste... very subtle and neutral honey initially, then in the aftertaste. What's in between is...?...rum 😆 It resembles a good, mild rum. It works very well as a mixer. Evaluation based on sipping neat.

November 3rd, 2022. Sugary hay mixed with coconut cream that's seen better days. A gentle sweetness kicks off the palate, leading to a slightly drying conclusion. A moderate warmth lingers in the finish, reminiscent of an Indian spice. Decayed oak, light stone fruit, and saturated with sugar cane extract. High-quality sugar cane rum.
