The aroma has sweet rye grain scents with oak and a vegetal smell, likely from the tequila finish. This is a hot whiskey, more so than most others, even at this high ABV. I typically don't add water, but I really needed to with this one, though it didn't help much. When I added a few drops of water, the tequila finish became more prominent, showing up on the finish. It's a pretty interesting whiskey, but not one I'll be reaching for often. It's more fun to know what a rye whiskey finished in tequila barrels tastes like.
