About this bottle

This small batch whiskey comes from Bull Run Distillery in Portland, Oregon. The distillery uses 100% malted barley, and a wash created by Burnside Brewing with ale yeast. Following fermentation, the spirit ages for 4 years in new American char oak barrels. Water from the Bull Run Watershed is added before bottling at 44.54% ABV.

The bottle I acquired is aged for 6 years, a detail not listed. A VERY intriguing whisky; the malt is prominent, but the fresh charred oak finish imparts some bourbon-like characteristics. It almost has a cherry cola profile. An outstanding dram!

Kari Chung 3.0

I appreciate the malt, but there are some unusual herbal notes that I can't quite place, perhaps from the yeast. Batch 1, bottle 3462. I'll need to sample another batch.

Nose features tart cherry with a hint of that sharp, young wood varnish quality on the palate, which I appreciate. A sweet vanilla finish with some lingering savory notes. Cheers to Cascadia!

Alvin Vieira 4.0

Absolutely fantastic! I have to buy another bottle. I owned one when my go-to drink was with cola. Thinking back, that was a waste, lol.

Ezra Dickerson 4.5

The 5-year expression is a fine example of an Oregon Single Malt. It's remarkably smooth with a pleasing texture.

Alijah Truong 5.0

It has pear and apple notes, a full herbal character, and a dry, intricate finish reminiscent of tea.
