Family get-together and a relative brought this up from TN for everyone to try. It is strong, and more complex than other TN whiskeys we had all sampled. Caramel, cinnamon, heat, wide flavor band. Complex; of 5 different bottles - this was the most interesting. We all preferred bourbon more - but we are all bourbon drinkers - certainly worth trying - not the same old whiskey.

Spicy, with hints of butterscotch and vanilla. While I typically favor wheated bourbon, this particular offering is rather good and provides a unique experience for an evening's enjoyment. As usual, sample it neat first, then consider adding ice or water. I prefer it served over a large ice sphere, allowing it a few minutes to develop.
I suspect Brushy Mountain still utilizes the identical prison recipe for this liquor. The concept seemed appealing, but the initial error was not trying it first at the BNA airport. Don't get caught out; sample it before you open your wallet to purchase the whiskey.
If this whiskey underwent a second barreling, it did nothing to help it mature or mellow. Harsh on the palate and throat with very little flavor.
I found it to be better than its rating suggested; it's quite pleasant.
