About this bottle

This Scotch whisky, produced at the revived Bruichladdich distillery on Islay, carries the former nickname of malts from this location. Locals, known as the Ileach, reportedly shortened the name to "the laddie," and it's said to have been a preferred drink among them. The Laddie series honors the significance of Bruichladdich in the hearts of the Ileach. This specific bottling was matured for sixteen years in casks that previously held bourbon. Under the new management's somewhat unclear naming system, the "Bruichladdich" label signifies unpeated Scottish barley (while "Port Charlotte" denotes heavily peated and "Octomore" signifies super-heavily peated). This malt is bottled at 46% ABV, is not chill-filtered, and has no added color.

Alena Hutchison 3.8

Aroma: pear, vanilla, melon, peach. On the palate, it's supposedly unpeated, but I detect a peated character. Citrus, ginger Finish: long and potent, with a slight burn. But perhaps that's because I'm on fire!

Annemarie Crook 4.0

Salty sea spray and brine. Leather notes, sulfur, wood smoke, and the peat. Ah, the peat. A classic from the distillery, produced by a master distiller. Date: 6/23/10

Nayeli Wellman 4.0

Not as rich as I anticipated, no wine finish, definitely displays the distillery character with age.

Jesse Son 5.0

Good. No smoke, slightly sweet, smooth. I drank it after dinner, wine, and sweets 😬

Edward Vickers 5.0
