Darin Bates 4.8

Nose - Rich caramel with fruit notes, ripe apples & pears, sweet golden raisins, grape candies, pineapple, and a touch of salinity. Taste - White pepper spice, red berries, golden raisins, dark apple/pear cider, a subtle saline presence, sharp ripe pineapple, and a light fruity bitterness from grape/apple/pear stems right at the end. Finish - A lingering taste of fruity berry/apple/pear cider, the salinity remains, and the fruity bitterness along with white pepper spice/heat return. Score - 91/100 Final Thoughts - The aroma on this bottling is remarkable, appearing and disappearing in waves and lasting for an extended period. It exhibits the classic saline notes associated with Bruichladdich, though slightly more subdued here, alongside abundant rich, ripe apple/pear flavors and a hint of fruity red berry. This evolves on the palate, giving the impression that it was primarily matured in ex-bourbon casks, but it likely includes some form of wine cask influence and perhaps even a refill sherry or similar. Overall, a magnificent dram. Would I drink it if offered? - Yes Would I specifically order it? - Yes Would I buy a bottle? - Potentially, if I could find it for approximately $150 USD?
