Brugal's Colleción Visionaria is a line of sipping rums inspired by the Dominican Republic. The first edition, Edición 01, features an aroma cask toasting method created by 5th generation Maestra Ronera Jassil Villanueva Quintana. European oak casks selected by Villanueva Quintana were toasted with Dominican cacao beans, then the beans were removed before the rum was put in the casks for its final maturation. Worldwide sales will be limited to four batches, with each bottle signed by Villanueva Quintana and marked with its batch number. Select US retailers will offer it starting August 2023, at a suggested retail price of $100.

An excellent rum with notes of dark chocolate, raisins, mocha, molasses, zesty orange peels, ginger, stewed plums, hazelnuts, and cherry cola. It pairs well with Zuma’s Special Chocolate and can stand up to many of the Foursquare Sherry and Madeira Casks I have encountered.
