About this bottle

The Blacker Still is one of three whiskies in the "Still Series," all distilled in the 1980s, with Golder Still and Redder Still being the others. Distilled in 1986, it matured in Oloroso sherry butts and yielded 3,000 bottles. Bottled in 2006 at 50.7% ABV, its name references the dark color imparted by the whisky, a characteristic stemming from the direct-fire heating of traditional stills, which would eventually become blackened.

An exceptional sherry bomb, darker than any forbidden concoction I've encountered. Aroma: Dark chocolate, strawberries, espresso, raisins, honey, almonds, figs, plums, candied orange peel, Christmas cake, date syrup, brown sugar, banana walnut bread. Taste: Raisins, raspberries, blackberries, dark chocolate, Luxardo cherries, hazelnuts, walnuts, nutmeg, cinnamon, burnt honey, maple syrup, molasses, vanilla, tobacco, lavender. Finish: Prunes, raisins, walnuts, mocha, dark chocolate, espresso, toffee, orange peel, raspberries, dates, coal, tobacco.
