About this bottle
Released in 2014, this Brora 40 Year is the oldest and most expensive bottling ever from the distillery, as well as the most expensive Diageo release. Its high price reflects its age and scarcity; the Highland distillery was closed during the 1980s whisky downturn, a fate shared by many distilleries then. Brora was known for supplying heavily peated whisky for blends for many years. In 1973, the production style shifted to a less peated whisky. This limited edition expression was distilled in 1972 and was likely intended for blending. It was bottled at its natural cask strength of 59.1% after maturing for four decades in a Highland warehouse.
