Fernanda Bender 2.3

The aroma is sweet with a hint of young grain. The taste is mellow with a mild spice, likely from the rye staves. The mouthfeel is a bit thin for its strength, and the finish is very brief. Overall, a successful experiment in wood finishing younger whiskey. For under $40 for a cask strength bottle in 2022, it's a good value. The brand also deserves credit for being transparent about the mashbill and wood profile on the label. The only thing missing is an age statement. With a little more time, this could be a standout for the price.

An unsatisfactory bottle from Broken Barrel. I'm usually a big admirer.
