About this bottle

Americana marks the fifth whiskey in Broken Barrel's main offerings. This straight American whiskey is composed of corn whiskey aged over four years, blended with younger straight bourbon. Following selection, the barrels were emptied and combined in a large tank. Staves were then introduced to this tank for a finishing period. The staves comprised 40% charred American oak, 40% toasted American oak, and 20% American apple brandy casks. This whiskey is bottled at 100 proof and began its nationwide rollout in November 2022. Doreen Burkhart 4.0

Very smooth, but with a significant amount of char. We wished the apple brandy cask had a greater impact, as the fruit flavor appears quite late in the tasting. Nevertheless, it offers a very accessible start. We would be interested to experience how a longer aging period would perform. The char is secondary to the corn's sweetness, with a somewhat light body. We find this enjoyable in whiskey highballs and when consumed alongside a lager ale.

Matteo Hoskins 3.3

Nose of fruited staves. A light, easy drinker but buttery. Fruit-forward with vanilla oak. Not complex, but enjoyable.
