About this bottle

Breckenridge Buddy Pass Imperial Stout Cask Whiskey represents a collaboration between Breckenridge Distillery and Breckenridge Brewery, located approximately 2.5 miles apart. The brewery first produced an Imperial Stout, which was then aged in former Breckenridge Bourbon barrels. After the stout's maturation, the barrels were emptied and returned to Breckenridge Distillery, where their whiskey was aged for 10 to 13 months. This whiskey is bottled at 54.25% ABV, with a production run of only 400 bottles. It was launched in November 2021.

Dara Epps 4.5

The aroma is of honeyed pecans, almonds, and walnuts. As you explore the taste, honey and caramel notes become dominant, until the back of the palate introduces bitterness and a slight sting. The initial finish continues with bitterness, reminiscent of coffee, which effectively links the whiskey to its stout cask finishing. This quickly reverts to the aroma with lingering honeyed cereals and nuts on the tongue. While the finish is brief, it's sufficiently long to conclude this well-balanced whiskey on a positive note, inviting another serving.

Felipe Leal 3.5

This Breckenridge bottling features the expected stout characteristics, and the proof is spot on. The entire palate is dominated by milk/lactose sugars, with notes of rich chocolate, toffee, and burnt brown sugar. The underlying oak notes are pleasant, and it finishes with a chocolate ice-cream sensation that persists. *Give it time... the third or fourth sip makes a difference!* As the bourbon airs out, the stout finish becomes more pronounced. A very enjoyable pour!

Freddie Mayo 2.5

This was somewhat harsher than I anticipated. The nose had very sweet notes, and the palate was very soft initially, but then a harsh burn followed. The initial palate consisted of vanilla and cream, but those flavors vanished quickly.

Louis Goode 3.8

A very good bourbon. It has a classic bourbon burn and a pleasant, tasty finish.

Reagan Singh 4.3

Contains cocoa powder, root beer, and imperial stout characteristics. Very good.

Kelvin Borden 4.5

Not overly spicy. It has notes of the beer that was in the barrels.
