After experiencing the truly amazing Bowmore 25yo Distiller's Anthology 01, I couldn't pass up the chance to try the second release in this collection, also named Distiller's Anthology, 02. This 25-year-old single malt was primarily aged in bourbon casks, and it has a lower alcohol content than the previous one, now at 47.8% ABV. Only 2,728 bottles were produced. On the nose, a striking pineapple aroma. Hand lotion, coconuts, malted barley, honey, green apples, and a remarkably accurate pear scent. On the palate, it's like pear juice with ash and salt. Farm fruits. After the first sip, a sugary pineapple juice emerged. Piña colada cocktail. Coconut. The finish is smoky and delicious. Tropical smoke; pineapple, coconut, spices. Salty; a gentle lip-scorching sensation. After a few sips, the spiciness blends with the smoke in a pleasing way. Overall, there's no doubt this is a fantastic dram, but it doesn't quite reach the level of the first release. This one features more classic flavors and aromas due to the American oak aging. It's still a great dram, earning a score of 92 out of 100.
