Bowmore 5 Year Old - Douglas Laing Old Particular Single Cask for K&L Wines - 61% ABV ⠀ Nose: Savory, reminiscent of a delicious smoked, salt-crusted pork roast. Cashews. Stir-fried green beans. Malt sugars and grilled pineapple. A pleasant salty peat akin to Talisker. A hint of sulfurous cheesiness. Not harsh, but some alcohol vapors. The empty glass yields a wonderful aroma of candied bacon. ⠀ Taste: Deliciously salty and ashy peat, peanuts, vibrant tropical fruit, pepper, caramelized sugar, definitely some warmth. The texture is somewhat soft and oily. The high proof gradually numbs the tongue over time. The finish is a smoky, sour sweetness that persists for a full minute. Overall, I'm very impressed with this Bowmore and will definitely seek out their excellent whisky in the future! They are known for some remarkable aged whiskies, so I hope to experience some eventually. ⠀ Current rating: 87/100
