Bowman Brothers Small Batch Bourbon

My overall score for this in the bourbon world would be around 3.25. My score of 4.0 here is based on its cost and how easily I can get it. How should I describe this bourbon? It's uncomplicated and direct. It won't surprise experienced drinkers who prefer high-proof, barrel-aged spirits. But its real strength is its harmony. Those who look closely at lower-proof drinks will find rewards. The flavors are present. It strikes a delicate balance between sweetness, apple, brown sugar, and a hint of rye spice reminiscent of cinnamon. It's enjoyable. If you appreciate Buffalo Trace bourbon or Blanton's bourbon, try this. Better yet, pour them both and taste this one blind. I suspect you'd be surprised. In short, it's good; buy some.

This is a really pleasant standard bourbon. While I usually prefer bolder, more intense flavors, this one excels by being the opposite. It's great to find a typical bourbon executed so well without unnecessary complexity. This would be ideal for introducing someone new to bourbon. It's not weak at all. Few spirits manage to be so agreeable yet possess such a distinct character. It's spicy and sweet in just the right measures. Consider adding a bit to your apple pie before baking.

A- pale yellow N- sugar, subtle wood, anise. P- sugary wood that persists, transforms into vanilla, cherry candy, very sugary pipe tobacco, two tastes that are an excellent pairing. M- moderate body, pleasant persistent taste coats the palate. It’s not overly complicated but the initial taste stays and the finish gently recedes and both are amazing. O- in summary, possibly the best value bourbon I've encountered. I anticipated a similar experience to Buffalo Trace. This, to me, is far superior. It ought to be a $40-45 bottle. What a delight.

It's refined, likely due to the triple distillation. It has an interesting background story and scores very well for me. While it won't overwhelm you with intense flavors, it offers a pleasing subtle experience. It's related to Buffalo Trace and performs admirably at its excellent $35 price point. I'd happily compare it to Eagle Rare 10yr or Elmer T. Lee in a blind tasting and it might even win half the time. If you're not a fan of Irish Whiskey, some elements might not appeal to you.

The texture is a little watery, but it offers a pleasingly robust aroma of tanned hide and tobacco, and the finish is brief and rather sweet. It's entirely uncomplicated, but given its remarkably low cost in VA, it's certainly a good deal.
