Bower Hill Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Color: Golden to Amber Nose: Light, with some vanilla and faint traces of spruce pine needles. A very subtle hint of sandalwood, which is a pleasant surprise. Palate: Begins smoothly, with a burst of clove and cinnamon on the mid-palate. Also a slight touch of ripe, tart green apple. Finish: The spice quickly fades, concluding with a delightful apple cobbler à la mode and a rich vanilla gelato, elevating my rating significantly from my initial thoughts!

A robust, single barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon from the Bower Hill collection. It presents an aromatic beginning with hints of Cedar spice, chocolate mousse, buttery corn, and dry earth; a full body introduces notes of red plum, more chocolate, barrel char, clove, and green apple; culminating in a long and intense conclusion with notes of Blackberry bush and butterscotch. Spotted this for $75, had no clue what it was but wanted to sample it. It even had a security tag. The packaging was gorgeous, and it offered a fantastic aroma (vanilla), but the flavor was quite unpleasant. It appears diluted and leaves a slick sensation in your mouth. Really strange. Might consume it just to get tipsy or use it in cooking. Absolutely not again.

A bit young and raw; there are a couple of sharp edges in the scent and taste. However, the foundation for a distinguished finish is present – I'm happy to drink it over several others at the moment. I'd return it to the barrel for a few more years and eagerly await what might emerge once those few rough edges are smoothed out.

Tastes like whiskey... let's call it balanced? My taste buds must be off; it just lacks distinct character notes. Just a hot alcohol finish right now. I'll see if it's different another day.

Pale in color. The aroma had hints of spice but also dry sawdust. Notes of citrus fruit and faint vanilla were present. The taste consisted of dry oak, a little spice on the palate, and a dry finish with a very faint lingering burn.
