About this bottle

Boondocks is an American whiskey produced in Bardstown, Kentucky, featuring a mash bill high in corn content. Although its components are comparable to bourbon, it is classified as 'American Whiskey' because it is aged in American oak that previously contained whiskey, rather than the new charred oak mandated for bourbon. This specific bottling is released directly from the cask at 127 proof.

Appearance - a deep gold color resembling caramel popcorn. Scent - a fruity smell that transitions to caramel with a slight burning scent at the end. Taste - that sweetness turning into a dark, caramelized, salty tingle. I suspect it's the high alcohol content. Finish - Not much, just a quick honey-sweet ending. Overall - A good spirit for sipping and enjoying; despite the high alcohol content, it doesn't have a strong kick but delivers well on flavors. Cheers to enjoying life happily.

Junior Hammonds 3.0

Very sweet aroma, almost candy-like. Extremely smooth on the palate; for 127 proof, it doesn't feel that strong at all. The taste is interesting, and you can detect the lack of new oak (it's aged in used barrels). It goes down easily with just a slight hint of alcohol to remind you of its strength.

Tessa Acuna 4.3

It begins with a sweet fragrance, bringing to mind vanilla bean and caramel. It is quite smooth and does not cause a strong burning sensation. The flavors match the aroma, with the addition of a subtle note of my preferred pipe tobacco. A pleasant, mild warmth concludes this whiskey.

Terry Chapman 2.3

Quite good - definitely soft and rich in flavor. However, there's a kind of raw, chewy oak tang that throws off my palate a bit. Combined with the maple edge, it's just not my preference.

Sheryl Downing 4.3

Significant vanilla notes. This is a bottle I'll always keep stocked. Very smooth for its alcohol content.

Riley Arteaga 3.5

It had a good amount of heat when consumed neat. Much improved with an ice cube.
