Bon Accord Highland Single Malt (Alexander Murray & Co.)

A subtle Single Malt Scotch Whisky from an unspecified Distillery in Highlands, Scotland, aged for 7 years in former Bourbon oak casks. A man launched an independent bottling company using his great uncle's name, located in California. It begins delicately with whispers of smoke and flowers; while an elegant progression adds notes of honey, citrus, walnut, and vanilla; culminating in a balanced, medium-length conclusion with hints of caramel, malt, and spices. January / March 2020 / August 2022

The aroma is intensely funky and malty. It carries many honey notes, but has a slightly sharp scent. The flavors are not as smooth as I desire, yet they remain light and fruity. The taste is a bit smoky with a kick, followed by all the sweet honey notes and a crisp spice. As it sits and your palate adjusts, warm vanilla emerges with an oily, nutty character. It's acceptable, but not exceptional.

Light amber color. The nose is initially earthy and malty, followed by light fruit notes. The first sip is earthy with hardly any sweetness, then a light biscuity note appears. A faint fruit note is present in the background. The finish is relatively short, briefly extending the earthiness from the start. Not terrible for the cost.

Barley, apples, citrus, salted nuts, chocolate, sour malt, blackberry jam on a biscuit, honey, lemon, grapes, buttery corn, char.

Pleasant aroma, with notes of caramel and wood. The taste features smoke and wood, leading to a cocoa-laced finish.

It has a medium sweet taste, a light smokiness, and a pleasant aftertaste.
