The bottle suggests a vanilla aroma. I can barely detect it beneath the alcohol scent. The smell is so potent it's almost like menthol. After a few sips, as my palate adjusted, I detected the vanilla. The taste is disorganized, with the rye and wheat seemingly vying for dominance. It feels like the whiskey requires more maturation time to stabilize and develop its character. Initially, I notice the smoothness from the wheat, but the spicy rye finish is... intriguing. I'm uncertain of my overall impression. It's a solid mid-tier bourbon, and not a bad outcome for an experimental effort.

Nice sugar notes with an undertone of wood. The heat follows the sugar and blends with the woody conclusion. Update: After resting it for about four months, I tried it again. This period of aeration improved it significantly. The sugar became more like sugarcane, and it was quite delicious.

The scent and flavor are reminiscent of many other young artisan whiskeys. The nose is sharp and woody, with that common sawdust aroma found in new craft spirits; the taste mirrors this, adding a touch of heat; the end is a subdued version of the palate.

This one is quite enjoyable. Just a hint of spice. It tastes like a combination of standard Maker's Mark with a rye. The wheat/rye combination is unexpected.
