Blended Whisky No. 1 50 year Batch no. 5 (That Boutique-y Whisky Co.)

A batch of That Boutique-y Whisky Company's highly acclaimed, remarkably balanced Blended Whisky #1 has arrived! To add to the excitement, this particular batch is 50 years old! Batch 5 consists of 2,000 bottles. It presents an aromatic beginning with hints of chocolate cornflake cakes or chocolate chip Weetabix Crispy Minis, sultanas, white grapes, and crème brûlée; its rich maturation adds notes of black treacle, a whisper of gypsy tart (condensed milk and muscovado), fruity plum wine, and anise; leading to a lengthy yet delicate conclusion with flavors of licorice and a touch of cocoa. Bottled between December 2017 and August 2022.

The aroma was fantastic, like Chocolate Baileys with chocolate and caramel. The palate required some attention, predominantly raisin and xmas cake with a slightly burnt caramel astringency and bitterness, lacking balance. It improved with time but didn't reach greatness, unlike a much older expression. This tasting included whiskies from the 1950s. Rated 3.75.
