Blackland Rye Whiskey

It's low proof, and you can tell it's 83% ABV. The nose is extremely floral, possibly the most floral whiskey I've had, like a bouquet of roses and honeysuckle. Beneath that, there's a tiny hint of rye mint. The palate is light and sweet, with unmistakable rye. It has a slightly minty caramel flavor with a bit of that rye spice. The finish is peppery. The taste is good, I just wish the alcohol content was higher. There's nothing objectionable about it at all. It's perfect for newcomers who aren't accustomed to higher proofs, but if you have a seasoned palate, you can at least enjoy pouring yourself a generous serving.

Nothing remarkable here. This rye and the bourbon they produce are suitable for cocktails, but drinking them straight is not for me.

Grain and mild spice on the nose, possibly with a hint of leather. The palate is thin with significant spice on the finish.

Smooth with subtle vanilla notes. A long finish. Honestly, not much spice for a rye.

Smells like standard rye. Tastes less intense than typical rye and quite viscous.

It goes down easy. It has a reasonable taste of rye. It's alright for sipping, but not remarkable.
