Black Owl whiskey

I'd bet a lot of money you haven't encountered this before. This Ecuadorian 'Whiskey,' possibly made from bourbon, uses a blended bourbon base with water and caramel coloring. This inexpensive bottle is acceptable (average). The aroma is wonderfully sweet, with vanilla, honey, orange, toffee, caramel, cough syrup, fruitcake, and a hint of alcohol. The taste is a bit harsh (like most cheap whiskeys), with oak, dry grass, mild spice, and some bitterness and heat. It has a light to medium body. The finish is medium and quite harsh with some oakiness. I drank it at the airport; it was 40% ABV. Nothing memorable, but not bad either.
