Among the least enjoyable spirits I've had the chance to try. Or perhaps, to put it differently - no spirits are truly bad, this one is simply not good. On the nose: it smells like beer and ale with a peaty new make spirit (you know that smell). It truly smells like new make spirit, with hints of ale. The taste is also just like new make spirit. How can it taste like new make spirit after at least 3 years in a cask - and it's stated that it's a 1st fill bourbon. Well, I apologize, but it tastes of nothing but new make spirit, salt, and citrus. The finish does offer something else though, some citrus and peat.
