This is a delicious whiskey. The Madeira cask really provides the right amount of fruitiness, mainly cherry, fig, and pear, to a whiskey that is somewhat spicy and hot. This balance makes it easy to drink despite the high proof. It wasn't an inexpensive whiskey, but it's every bit as good as MWND, though more suited for bourbon fans than rye lovers.
A selection from a friend... the Madeira influence presents unusually... reminiscent of a bloom that is simultaneously pleasant and peculiar... like passing a dogwood tree. It's quite divisive. Perhaps it will mature/ mellow with exposure to air. 1/3/2020
