This presents as a more balanced variation of Bruichladdich Classic Laddie. You'll find limited details from Duncan Taylor beyond the distillery and age, a characteristic familiar to Bruichladdich enthusiasts. The aroma offers notes of buttered popcorn, sea air, and pepper. On the palate, it strongly suggests peat, similar to the Laddie, with buttered biscuits, burnt match, and pepper carrying through the taste. The flavors seem to lift from the tongue, leaving behind subtle fruits and vanilla. Overall, this is an excellent whiskey, its only drawback being the cost. At $189 in my local store, it's rather expensive. Considering the slight flavor variations, I'll likely stick with the "Laddie" or Bere Barley.
