This is my first HAZMAT bottle; I had to get it when I heard it was available. The specific one I have is Selected by Bourbon Street W&S, Barrel #1, Barrel V220, Bottle 001, Proof: 146.12 / 73.06%, Age: 14 years. Pouring into a Glencairn. About 0.5 ounces. I was scared... genuinely scared. Nose (3.5): Initial smell, surprisingly, didn't burn. Light sweet honey on top of a vanilla cookie. If you disrespect it and try a big deep sniff after that gentle invitation, you'll get hit hard by the alcohol. Mint and peppermint. Added 3 drops of water. Doesn't negatively affect it at all. Palate (4): A surge of sweetness at the front. Totally deceptive. Immediately notice the thick coating. Vanilla. After a second or two in the mouth, the proof progressively becomes intense. I tried holding it in my mouth for about 10 seconds. Like your first time using the yellow Listerine – that feeling. OOOOHHHH Weee. Take small sips. The flavor goes a long way. Finish (4): It is hot. A big hug. From the chest and the fumes. Try to swallow slowly, don't gulp. Rye. Vanilla. A bright, fresh, young berry melody. Heavy cream sensation. My favorite part of the entire experience is the initial finish. So flavorful. The oils are still on your tongue with immense flavor. The finish lasts a loooong time. Overall: I'm so pleased to have it. Not an everyday drinker. It's like going on a date with a super attractive but wild person. If you're not careful and skillful, you could get hurt. But you still want that experience.
