Let me preface this by saying I am a major fan of Barrell. Their Bourbon, Infinite Barrel, New Years, and Dovetail hold a special place on my shelf. This SiB Rye misses the mark, however. It's intensely strong at over 126 proof but lacks the depth that would make one want to drink something that potent, with a finish I can only describe as 'medicinal'. I still like you, Barrell... but this was a costly error on my part.

126.96 Proof, L940. The aroma is reminiscent of grass and cardboard. It has an oily mouthfeel, yet the palate feels somewhat lacking in body. The flavors follow the scent. There might be a whisper of milk chocolate. Spice is present. Otherwise, the palate is subdued. It's quite dull, though not unpleasant. 12/6/19
