The aroma is amazingly complex, with notes from apricot and citrus to caramel, butterscotch, and pure ethanol. Drinking it neat, the heat and rye spice hit first, then turn fruity and linger a long time. A little water makes it more open; the aroma gets richer and fruitier. The palate still has heat, but the fruit comes through more, with a salty/tannin finish that's shorter than when neat. It's very complex, quite a journey. The overall heat prevents a higher score, but it's an incredible glass when the mood strikes.
