About this bottle
A Rare Discovery from Distant Shores is a single malt Scotch whisky within The Balvenie's Stories collection. The concept originated when Malt Master David C. Stewart's friend, John Barrett, visited the distillery with Caroni Rum samples from Trinidad. In 2014, Stewart transferred 20-year-old Balvenie, which had been maturing in traditional American oak casks, into ex-Caroni Rum casks. This whisky, aged a total of 27 years, was bottled at 48% ABV and released in the US in November 2022. (SRP $1,500)
