About this bottle

Aultmore whisky was known locally by fishermen as a "nip of the Buckie Road." Established in 1896, the distillery draws water from the Auchinderran burn, which flows through the "foggie moss" area. This 25 year old bottling, presented at 46% ABV, is currently the oldest single malt in the distillery's offerings. It debuted in 2014 as part of Dewar's "The Last Great Malts" collection and is distributed in limited quantities to select international markets and Global Travel Retail.

Daisy Kimbrough 3.0

An aroma of heated malt (from the alcohol), vanilla, shortbread cookies, and dry peat, with a hint of ethanol. The palate begins with vanilla cream, shortbread, orange zest, a touch of peat smoke, and a long, spice-focused finish. I was surprised by the prolonged mouthwatering sensation, attributed to the intense spice finish and alcohol heat. It's subtle, but slightly overpowering; the alcohol is more prominent than it should be.

This 2014 release from a sherry cask (Batch 041) is fantastic, with flavors of Christmas cake, sherry, toffee, chocolate, nuts, vanilla, apricot, sultanas, honey, pepper, raisins, and citrus. I sampled it alongside 11 other pours from my club, 7 of which were at least 20 years old.
