Dona Troyer 5.0

NOSE Rich and sweet sherry cask notes: sultanas, plump raisins, spiced sponge cake and candied orange peel. Lighter orchard fruit notes emerge: stewed apple, apple strudel and poached pear. Sugared almonds appear, along with zesty lemon and a touch of fino sherry dryness. PALATE Thick cream blended with mixed berries: raspberry, blackcurrant and strawberry. Raisins and spice follow, balanced by a touch of bitter char and sour cherries. The spice transforms into malt loaf, though sweetness is managed. Rich and dark notes of fruit cake and black bread are accompanied by molasses and black liquorice. FINISH Liquorice and spice fade, leaving stewed apple, raisins and damp leaves. COMMENT An exceptionally well-balanced Arran, harmonizing sherry notes with the distillery's signature fruity character.
