Nose: Mild peat, toast, char/ash, oak, and a light sweet BBQ smoke. Palate: Light peat smoke, oak, nutty, savory/umami, toffee, light summer berries, and cinnamon. Finish: Medium length, with salt/saline, gentle smoke, light berries, and peat, concluding with mild sweet BBQ notes. Composed of 50% peated and 50% unpeated components, matured in a 65:35 ratio of ex-bourbon to ex-sherry casks. This is a delightful dram that tastes older than its age suggests, with a pleasant, building peatiness on the aftertaste. It ranked third out of six spirits tasted, receiving 10% of the vote for favorite of the night. 81% of attendees enjoyed it. I had already purchased a bottle prior to the tasting.
