Archie Rose Six Malt New Make

Scent: A clean, well-rounded malt aroma with notes of fresh-cut grass, banana split, caramel, fresh white bread, a touch of mint in the background, and a very faint roasted coffee bean scent. It's a sweet, full nose. Palate: A juicy arrival with tropical fruit, cherries, candied pineapple, ginger in syrup, and guava. During the development (limited, as expected with new make spirit), a chocolate flavor emerges alongside cereal notes like muesli, wheat flakes, and oatmeal. The texture is oily and creamy. Finish: Short. A blend of cereal and fruit. A delightful new-make barley spirit, among the finest I've encountered. Honestly, I find it superior to the single malt whisky released by that distillery in 2021, which was essentially this spirit with two years of intense aging in small casks. That whisky seemed excessively treated to me, and at the time, I wished they had created something with more subtlety and restraint. Having now sampled this new make, I wish even more they had had the courage to offer it as a standard product. However, the production run was very small and it was only available directly from the distillery. Unfortunately, I missed the chance to acquire a bottle, and it's now extremely scarce, so I was thrilled to get a sample at a local shop today. Disregard any remarks suggesting this new make is merely an "unfinished" proto-whisky suitable only for mixed drinks as a substitute for white rum or vodka. It is, in reality, a highly enjoyable spirit and could easily stand up against any good genever. "Very Good": 86/100 (4 stars)

An amazing six-malt whisky with a distinct beginning, middle, and end. It begins with a hay-like cereal note, transitions into lime and citrus, and finishes with a chocolate maltiness.

Awesome chocolate flavor with an unexpected mix of citrus peels and other notes. It offers a voyage through tastes. Quite distinct and highly pleasing.
