Grover Espinal 4.0

Smell: Subtle floral juniper with underlying coriander leaf aromas. It's an uplifting and clean aroma, but not sharp; it has a smooth, comforting softness. There's also a hint of piney herbal notes. Very pleasant. Taste: Smooth and full on arrival with spicy herbal flavors, but like the aroma, it's comforting rather than sharp, with clean complexity. The texture is round and satiny, and there's a trace of earthy root spices like ginger, turmeric, and galangal. Finish: Medium to long. The taste transitions into a pleasant finish with a sweet, lingering mint and herbal aftertaste. A well-rounded, complex gin that is balanced and has a pleasant texture, excellent for sipping neat or mixing. It pairs especially well with a mild tonic, such as Fever Tree Mediterranean, where a light sweetness can enhance the botanicals without overpowering them. Tonic also reveals a light lemon/lime note that provides a refreshing contrast, perfect for a G&T. Co-distillers Dervilla McGowan and Sebastian Reaburn have been producing small-batch gin at their distillery in suburban Melbourne since 2016. In 2018, this gin received the Champion Gin award at the Australian Distilled Spirits Awards. "Very Good": 85/100 (4 stars).
